Make Your March Madness Party a Slam Dunk!

Make Your March Madness Party a Slam Dunk!

(ARA) - March Madness is nearly upon us, and with it comes a slew of exciting basketball games and the opportunity to throw a fantastic party. If you are hosting a March Madness event this year, keep in mind that the small details are what turns a good party into a great party. By planning ahead, you can set your event apart from the rest. Read on for ideas about throwing a "slam-dunk" party that will keep them talking, from the first game to the Final Four!

The majority of your guests will be basketball lovers, and for those who are crazy about "hoops," knock their socks off with a high definition HDTV. Hit "play" on your digital lifestyle by showing the game on an easy-to-use HP large screen TV. These TVs feature amazing clarity that will show every critical detail of the game. Your guests will feel as though they're watching the game courtside. Your guests will appreciate the chance to socialize before the game starts. Extend the party into a room where these guests can enjoy themselves without watching the pre-game show. Attach HP's Digital Entertainment Center to you TV and you can access music, movies, photos and videos from the Internet and play them before and after the big game.

Décor will help get your guests into March Madness spirit. Wear a referee shirt and pass out foam basketballs. Decorate your home with basketball-shaped helium balloons. Supply linens in your favorite team's colors, or be neutral and use both teams' colors. Visit your local party store for more ideas and to stock up on party supplies. Hand out pennants, pompoms or foam "bad call" bricks to keep your guests involved on every level.

Every good party features a wide range of food, from chips and salsa to cookies, carrots and chicken wings. Remember, the TV will be the focus of your party - serve food that is easy to eat so that your guests can eat while they watch TV. Serve the food in basketball-shaped bowls, and make sure that it is easily available to all guests. Keep the food separate from the TV area, so that guests watching the game won't miss a second of the action. Basketball moves quickly, and missing a single play could be very upsetting! If you are including children on your guest list, remember to offer kid-friendly food and drinks, such as juice and soda. Finally, use paper plates, napkins and glasses - with a basketball theme - to make cleanup easy.

March Madness is a great American tradition, with friends, family, food and fun. A successful host will consider all aspects of the party, from food and décor to music and the right equipment on which to show the Big Game. Your guests will enjoy themselves and will thank you for your consideration!
