(ARA) - The news is filled with celebrity hook-ups. Whether it’s a surprise marriage between Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony or a steamy kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears -- celebrity romances, affairs and make-out sessions are regularly making headlines.

Do we simply want to live vicariously through celebrity romances? Or, do most of us fantasize about smooching some of this year’s hottest stars?

According to a new, national “Hot Kiss” survey, the majority of young Americans would jump at the chance to get kissably close to stars like Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey, Lindsay Lohan and Ashton Kutcher. Close-Up Red Gel Toothpaste’s survey revealed some surprising results about whose kisses would make Americans’ tongues wag and temperatures rise.

The Big Screen Smooch

Thirty percent of young men thought they’d see fireworks after a kiss from teen queen Lindsay Lohan, this year’s host of the MTV Movie Awards. She reigned over regular “It” girls Halle Berry and Beyoncé, who received 27 and 16 percent of the votes, respectively.

Don’t tell Demi, but Ashton Kutcher is also hotter than ever. Twenty-eight percent of women surveyed were feeling the heat just thinking about a kiss from him -- the TV heartthrob beat screen star Colin Farrell, singers Usher and Enrique Iglesias and The O.C.’s Benjamin McKenzie.

When asked which two celebrity figures’ “passionate kiss” would create the most fireworks, 41 percent of respondents thought a smooch between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt would provide the best show. A re-enactment of Madonna and Britney Spears’ lip lock was second with 30 percent.

The Reality Is . . .

Even reality show stars are making their mark. Naturally, an overwhelming number of men (58 percent) want to kiss bombshell Jessica Simpson. Hubby Nick Lachey won the females over with 68 percent of female votes. “The Apprentice’s” Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth was deemed least kissable with a mere 7 percent of votes.

Some respondents also dream about smooching their favorite daytime talk show hosts. Amusingly, Kelly Ripa is the most kissable host (49 percent of votes), while her partner-in-crime, Regis Philbin wasn’t so desirable, garnering only 7 percent of female votes. Turns out women prefer Ryan Seacrest, host of “American Idol” and “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest.”

Less Late Night Action

Men may get more distinguished with age, but the survey found that there are two that don’t get more kissable. Late night hosts David Letterman and Jay Leno only received 4 percent and 5 percent of the votes respectively. Youngster Carson Daly snagged top honors as most smoochable host with 49 percent of votes.

The national survey kicked off the “Close-Up Hot Kiss” summer tour, showing how the brand’s Red Gel Toothpaste offers consumers the taste that heats things up, particularly when the temperature starts rising. The tour, featuring cool, sexy “kiss-off” contests in top bars across the country, is traveling to cities including: New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, Tampa and San Antonio.
